Forever Classes: Six New Combos, Paladin Taunt Seal, Optional Transmog

The Deep Dive names six launch race-class pairs, walks Paladin tanks through Seal of Fury, and makes transmog an opt-out with group dungeon appearances.

The systems recap is camping, Legacy, and rulesets. This is the character kit. Combat is still meant to feel like Classic — 10–15 seconds on an ordinary solo pull, crowd control still matters, threat still matters. Classes stay uneven on purpose.

Six launch combos

On top of Undead Paladins from Saturday:

  • Gnome Priest
  • Human Hunter
  • Dwarf Shaman
  • Orc Mage
  • Troll Warlock
  • Undead Paladin

More pairs are called for later updates. Each race now has two actives and two passives, tuned for similar offensive punch with different utility.

Official Dwarf pass: Stoneform still clears and immunes bleeds, poisons, and diseases, but the defensive half is physical-damage reduction instead of Armor. Find Treasure can sit next to other tracking. Mace Specialization is crit while a mace is equipped. Big Game Hunter is extra damage to Beasts.

Official Undead pass: Will of the Forsaken still breaks charm, fear, and sleep — no longer grants immunity. Cannibalize restores mana as well as health. Underwater Breathing stays. Touch of the Grave is a new life-drain proc.

Talent trees keep the 1.12 row count and the 11 / 21 / 31 milestones, plus a new 16-point stop. Class buffs that used to hide behind a talent — Divine Spirit, Blessing of Kings, Improved Mark of the Wild — are baseline.

Paladins

The worked example is Paladin. Holy Strike is an instant Holy weapon hit at level 6 on a 12-second cooldown. Seals are no longer eaten by Judgment. Consecration is baseline at 20.

Seal of Fury is the tank seal: fast-weapon swings, small absorbs, and Judgment taunts while it is up. That is the taunt. There is still no Paladin interrupt and no Paladin slow. Protection also gets mana back from the seal and from blocks, a once-a-minute Judgment reset if a taunt misses, and a health-based absorb that plays with Forbearance.

Holy leans on mixing Holy Shock and Flash of Light into Holy Light. Retribution keeps a melee identity, with an optional Holy Shock path if you do not want to seal-twist. Twist of Light lets a new Seal echo into the next swing so the timing is not an addon check.

Do not treat that as a full tree. More class videos are promised.

Itemization

Hit chance is one stat. Crit chance is one stat. Hybrids and physical classes both benefit when taunts, poisons, and traps need to land. Weapon-skill items give less skill per piece. Bonus healing now includes one third bonus damage. Caster weapons can carry spell damage and healing. Some items cut parry or dodge chance. Some trinkets and drops care about terrain or creature type — official examples are the Worgenbane Talisman and X’caliboar.

Unique dungeon-boss items are blue. Quest rewards were reopened for more roles: Mor’ladim still has the two-hander and now also the Ladimore Heirloom Ring. Nesingwary’s Stranglethorn line adds the Master Hunter’s Spellsword.

Transmog is opt-out

Transmog exists. You can also turn it off. Disabled means you see other players in the gear they have on. A Classic Mode first-launch choice starts you with transmog off. Appearances still collect in the background.

Bind-on-pickup Uncommon and Rare dungeon drops grant the appearance to every eligible looter when the item is looted. Epic raid appearances go only to the player the item binds to. Plate stays plate. Cloth stays cloth. High-level looks wait until 60, except rare cosmetics. Poor and Common appearances unlock on loot without a bind.

Beta September 17. Live November 4.
