Forever Deep Dive: Camping, Legacy Trees, and Realmless Rulesets

Sunday’s panel fills in Warcraft Forever’s play loop — roadside campfires, account-wide Legacy Points, and rulesets instead of realm names. Beta still Thursday.

Saturday’s Forever announce locked the name and the November 4 date. Sunday’s Deep Dive is the systems list. Beta is still Thursday, September 17. This is a separate game from Midnight, not a patch.

Camping

The old Cooking Fire becomes a Basic Campfire. Drop one in the world and the camp is a rest stop: vendors, repairs, profession benches, and one-hour buffs. You have to sit a moment to get the buff. Pick the spot — official copy says some ground is a better rest than other ground.

Nearby players can add up to three crafted camp objects. One object per player. Those objects share a one-hour cooldown. Every profession learns three objects at different skill ranks. First objects unlock at skill 20. Later objects come from Blueprint recipes on dungeon bosses.

Named examples: Blacksmiths place a Sharpening Wheel (Attack Power), Tailors a Faction Banner (Spirit), Herbalists an Incense Candle (Intellect). Those sit in the same bucket as class buffs and do not stack with them. Alchemists can drop an Alchemy Lab. Leatherworkers get a Tanning Rack that later recipes need. Cooks learn bigger campfires that hold five or ten objects.

Professions also pick up 600+ new recipes across the 1–60 range. Crafted food can add a small experience bonus on top of the usual stats.

Legacy

Legacy Points come from challenges that already look like the journey — level a class, hit a skill mark — not a side chore list. Points are account-wide. Each character spends them in its own trees: Professions, Adventure, and Resourcefulness.

Named talents: Well Rested raises rested experience and the rest cap. Bountiful Harvest increases gather yields. Reagent Economy can drop reagent costs on class buffs.

Launch spend cap is 16 points per character. You can still earn up to 65 points. Extra points feed a cosmetic reward track. The official example is the Spectral Bear Cub. Do not treat that as a full track. Riding uses the Burning Crusade pattern: pay for the skill, get the mount with it.

Realmless rulesets

There is no realm dropdown. You pick a ruleset:

  • Normal — cooperation first; PvP needs consent
  • PvP — contested ground stays dangerous
  • Roleplaying
  • Hardcore — after launch, not day one

Each ruleset is its own large ecosystem, not one megaserver for everyone. No cross-ruleset groups. Horde and Alliance still do not group. Hardcore stays closed. A dead Hardcore character can move to another ruleset, including PvP. Collections and Legacy Points carry across Normal / PvP / Roleplaying. Hardcore progress can leave Hardcore. It does not flow back in.

Characters use two-part names, unique per region. You also pick a language preference. PvP faction balance is described as Season of Discovery-style.

Retail players still have Winds of Mysterious Fortune through September 22. Forever is a different login.
