Forever Uses Midnight’s Addon API, Including Secrets
Blizzard’s UI team says Warcraft Forever shares Midnight’s Mainline addon architecture — secret values, AuraContainer, and future UI changes land in both.
Warcraft Forever is a different game from Midnight. It is not a different addon platform. Blizzard’s UI team posted that Forever sits in the Mainline code family with modern WoW, so the Midnight addon rules travel with it.
Beta is still Thursday, September 17. This is not a go-live post.
What carries over
Forever loads the same UI stack as current retail, including most APIs available in 12.1.5. The Midnight addon disarmament is on — secret values included. The AuraContainer / AuraButton work from 12.1.0 is available too. Later UI changes are expected to ship to both products, not only Midnight.
That is the player-facing beat for anyone packing a Classic folder for Thursday: combat addons that died on Midnight’s secret-value API stay dead here. Classic-era packages need remakes. Midnight-era addons are the closer port. Do not treat that as a list of which skins, raid frames, or WeakAuras will load on day one.
What this is not
It is not a new Cooldown Manager feature list. It is not a console port. Gamepad support was already in the What’s Next recap. Forever is still the November 4 launch, still no Token, still a separate login from retail Season 2.
