12.2.5 Transmog: Armor Types Open, Weapons and Class Gear Stay Locked
Cross-armor transmog in patch 12.2.5 lifts cloth / leather / mail / plate rules. Class tier and weapon types do not come with it.
The Eclipse systems recap already called cross-armor transmog for patch 12.2.5, not for Eclipse itself. The same BlizzCon interview that closed the Season 3 Mythic+ gaps is the remaining-restriction list. This is not a live date.
What opens
Armor type is the rule they are removing. Cloth, leather, mail, and plate appearances can mix. A Mage can show plate shoulders. A Warrior can show a cloth chest. Kubit’s pitch is Housing-style: if the look works, use it.
That lands in 12.2.5, after Eclipse. Do not expect it on 12.2 day one.
What stays locked
- Class armor — Paladin tier stays Paladin. Priest tier stays Priest. Off-pieces that already grant an appearance still can; the class set itself does not go cross-class.
- Weapons — you still have to be able to wield the type. No Warrior wands.
Kubit left a “never say never” on Forever’s group appearance grants coming to retail. That is not a 12.2.5 note.
